Friday Favorites

It's Fri-yay! This weekend, Les and I are headed to New York City with his parents for a Yankees game and a few other touristy activities! Having grown up an hour outside of the city, I used to go a lot more frequently-- I especially love it in the winter. But living up in Massachusetts now, I don't make it down there that often, so this should be fun! We might even drive by my old house in Connecticut. :) So to kick off your weekends, here are this week's Friday Favorites! P.S. Be sure to come back on Monday for what will be one of my favorite posts to date.... my bridesmaid reveal! Can't. Wait.

1. kate spade Dip Dye Denim Jacket

If you've been here for a while, you know that I've been wearing the same denim jacket since middle school. I am 25 years old (26 at the end of the month!!) Yikes. So when this jacket popped up in a kate spade surprise sale, I knew it was well worth it, especially at more than 50% off! I've already worn it with white jeans for a work event, and I've tried it on with a few sundresses; it adds the perfect playful touch. While my forever favorite Abercrombie jean jacket won't completely get the axe, I'm psyched to supplement it at times with this one!

2. Klorane Shampoo with Nettle

After a bit more searching, I found out that the same company that makes the dry shampoo I love, Klorane, also makes a shampoo with nettle-- that's supposed to be the secret ingredient to control oil. I've ben using this shampoo since February and I have definitely noticed that my second (and even third!!) day hair is much less oily. The irony is that I'm using less dry shampoo now, hah! And, while $20 per bottle is still more than I'd like to spend on shampoo, it's helped me in the long run, and I'd call it worth it.

3. J. Crew Factory Socks

It's Les's birthday this weekend, so I thought now was the perfect time to share one of my favorite little gifts to give him throughout the year: for Valentine's Day, for good luck, for a random Tuesday.... it's socks. Whenever I see an adorable pair of socks with something he likes, I can't help but get them for him. And, considering he wears dress socks everyday to work, they don't go to waste. J. Crew Factory is where I buy most of them because they're always introducing new designs, and they're at a great price point. Some of our favorites that I've given him include these T-Rexes, dachshunds wearing sweaters, dachshunds wearing sailor hats...pretty much anything with a dachshund on it. I don't think I'll ever stop giving him socks, so hopefully he never stops wearing them. :)

4. Where the Crawdads Sing

This book had been on my list for a while, and I finally had the chance to read it last weekend. I needed a break from all of the thriller/mysteries I've been reading, and while this does have a murder mystery running in the background, at its core this book is so much more. Where the Crawdads Sing is set in the 1950s in rural (and I mean RURAL) North Carolina, and it follows Kya Clark as she grows up on the marsh and in her family's shack. She becomes a suspect in the death of the town's glory boy, and you learn all about how their lives intertwine throughout the book. I don't want to give too much more away, but with over 14,000 five star reviews on Amazon, you know it's worth the read. If you do read it, let's PLEASE talk after!!

5. My fiancé Les: the Birthday Boy

Les should really be in Friday Favorites every week because he is my very favorite person. It's his 26th birthday this weekend, and I absolutely love to celebrate him. He has been my best friend for the past 7 years and has seen me at my best and at my worst. He knows exactly how to make me smile, laugh, calm down, and be brave. Les is also such a good, genuine person who is always more than willing to help family and friends. He's helped my dad fix cars, launch the docks, install kitchen cabinets, and probably a zillion other things I can't think of. He's so curious and so smart, and he just makes everything better for me in every possible way. I can't believe we'll be 27 when we get married, but for now, cheers to 26 and to being Les's fiancé-- something I'll love to savor. Happy birthday, babe. :)
