My favorite pieces (so far!) from the 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
It's here!!!!! Christmas in July.... the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. There are so many things to love about this sale-- it's my third year shopping it, and in my opinion it gets better every year. If you're not familiar with it, let me explain. Unlike most sales which consist of markdowns at the end of the season (so summer clothes/swimsuits going on sale at the end of the summer), the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale introduces NEW items coming to Nordstrom that fall; and these items, for a limited time before the season even starts, are available at heavily reduced prices.
The date that you can start shopping the sale varies depending on whether or not you have a Nordstrom card, but after August 4 the items all go up to full price for everyone. SO what does this all mean? If you have a Nordstrom card you probably already know this.. but you can start shopping the sale TODAY in stores and online starting at 12:30pm EST. If you don't have a card, you'll be able to shop starting a week from today, July 19. The bad news? Things sell out. Quickly. With that in mind, I wanted to share my favorite items from the sale so far that I was able to snag in person already. As a Nordstrom Ambassador, I was able to shop in-person at my local Nordstrom on Wednesday, and then online yesterday. So I'm psyched to share a few pieces today and then more as they arrive over the next two weeks or so in the mail!
A few more things.... before anyone panics (mom) please know that I did not keep everything that I'm showing. I brought it all home, tried it on, and then decided what made sense to keep based on what gaps I needed to fill in my wardrobe. And, because of Nordstrom's wonderful return policy, I'll be bringing the rest back. So my tips to you are if you are ordering online, don't be afraid to order something in multiple sizes and/or colors to see what's going to work best for you, and know that you can return your items in-store or by shipping them back.
Lastly, I apologize for the not-so-great lighting! I wish I could have taken these in daytime/natural light, but I wanted to get it all done last night so I could get this post up this morning for those of you who will be shopping today! Alright... here we go!!!
This may be my very favorite piece from the sale... the Barbour Oakland Quilted Jacket in black. Admittedly, I have a thing for coats and jackets. But this one is SO comfortable, so soft, and I can tell it will be super warm. I sized up quite a bit in this to a UK 10 (a US 6) because Barbour tends to run pretty small and I want to be able to fit a heavy sweater underneath. Kudos to the ladies at the North Shore Mall Nordstrom for helping me settle on the right size! The jeans I'm wearing are last year's sale by Kut from the Kloth, and the booties are last year's Blondo! Both of these pieces have held up incredibly well over the past year. I especially love the booties because they're waterproof! Since last year's jeans and booties are sold out, I've linked instead to this season's new versions.
This funnel neck sweater is Nordstrom Signature Brand; it's cashmere and it's oh-so-cozy. I'm not going to lie... this was one I had initially planned on returning. But I think it's going to prove to be pretty hard to part with! I'm wearing an XS here so it runs a little big (I would typically be a Small in sweaters)
This Barbour Vaulted Hooded Raincoat might be my second favorite pick from the sale. I love that it can be styled over jeans, or even a dress, and still look adorable. I also think it will look great with my taller riding boots in the winter, rain boots, sneakers, Uggs... you name it. And, since it's Barbour, I know it'll last forever. I went with a UK 10/US 6 in this jacket as well. The sneaker bootie I paired it with is Steve Madden-- these sporty and stylish shoes are so versatile, and they run true to size. The camo color they come in was very tempting, as well, but not as practical in my opinion.
It wouldn't be a post of mine if there wasn't some Tory Burch! This Tory Burch Everly Tote is definitely going to be one of the first pieces to sell out, especially in this perfect-for-fall color. The best thing about it? It easily fits a laptop so it's great for the office! I paired it here with an old olive dress from Lulu's and, of course, matching Tory Burch Everly Sandals. Note that I sized up a half size in the sandals from what I normally wear in TB flats. Now, you and I both know there is no earthy reason for me to keep this bag with my already extensive collection. So... back it goes. The heels on the other hand.... : )
This Nordstrom brand calf hair clutch was the very first thing I picked up when I got to the store on Wednesday. Just this small piece of leopard print adds the perfect amount of flair to the most basic jeans-and-a-white-t-shirt ensemble.
Next up? A little workout/athleisure wear! I grabbed this Adidas Trefoil tee to throw on under the Zella live-in jacket. If you've never bought anything Zella brand before, it's a more-affordable alternative to Lululemon. We're talking $35 for high-quality leggings! I'm wearing leggings from last year's sale (that are in this year's sale too) that I've worked out in, and lounged in, all year. The jacket does run small so I sized up to a Medium; the t-shirt is true to size (I'm wearing a small); and the leggings are true to size (I'm 5'4" and I buy them in size small).
Last, but not least, the SOFTEST pajamas you will ever feel. And, somehow they're still incredibly lightweight, which I prefer for sleeping. These are BP brand-- this brand tends to have some of the best deals on every-day essentials as well as accessories during the Anniversary sale. The BP Cozy Top runs big so I bought it in an XS, but I sized up to a medium in the bottoms because I hate anything tight-fitting at night! Both come in a few other colors, too.
Although I didn't buy these this year, I just wanted to share three more pairs of shoes that I bought in past years that are included, in slightly different versions, in this year's sale.
True to size.
True to size. Takes some breaking in on your toes!
True to size.
That's all! (She says, a zillion pictures and links later). I'm hoping a few things come in the mail next week by the time we get back from the Adirondacks on Tuesday and I can get those uploaded as well. For now, though, I'll be off the blog to enjoy a few days away with Les and his family! In the meantime, share with me what you're buying if you're shopping the sale! Enjoy your weekend, everybody. :)
