Happy Friday everyone! I'm in full-on maid of honor mode this weekend prepping for my sister's shower coming up in a little over a week, and getting ready for our engagement photos at the same time! This should be a beautiful, but busy, weekend! Enjoy this week's favorites below, starting with another blue-box surprise...
1. Tiffany Diamond Point Round Decanter
Look what showed up at mine and Les's doorstep on Tuesday from his parents!! This absolutely beautiful decanter to match the champagne flutes that my parents gifted us to cerebrate our engagement. This was such a sweet and thoughtful way to help us continue to celebrate the most exciting time in our relationship, and such a smart gift idea following my post last Friday! As soon as Les's mom saw it, she thought the decanter would be the perfect present and she was right. Les and I can't wait to use this, and display it, for years and years to come. I think gifts like these are so fun, too, because whenever we receive compliments on it we'll be able to say that it was a present to commemorate our engagement. Thank you Pattie and Les!!
2. Bacon-wrapped Pineapple Bites with a Honey-Sriracha Glaze
I mentioned in my What I'm Wearing Weekly this week that I couldn't wait to share the appetizer that I brought to Easter last Sunday. It was super easy, really delicious, and they went fast in our group! After offering to bring an appetizer to my aunt's, I went on Pinterest and typed in "Easter appetizer," hoping to find something a little different, and great for spring. This recipe was one of the first things to pop up and I was immediately sold! I LOVE a good glaze on anything (meat, veggies, a donut...). These really were simple to make (especially the glaze); the hardest part for me was cutting a fresh pineapple because I had never done it before. Youtube to the rescue! After that, it's just wrapping the pineapple pieces in bacon, coating them in brown sugar, popping them in the oven, and then serving them with your glaze. I have to admit-- I did take my own picture of the ones I made, but I must have been really distracted by the prospect of eating one because the picture was terrible. So here's the photo from the blogger whose recipe I used. So, go good.
3. J. Crew Factory Ponte Wide-Leg Crop Pant
When I first got these in the mail, I LOVED how comfortable they were, but I wasn't quite sure that I was completely sold on them. But, I'm always looking for a good work pant, so I paired them with a sweater and loafer-type flats like the picture of the model below and wore them to the office. Three compliments later, I knew these were a good buy. Note, though, that I only paid $29.50 for these (as I'm typing this they're currently listed at $46.50), so definitely wait until they are "on sale" again, since I'm sure they will be soon!
4. Amazon Basics Electric Tea Kettle
This might be a bit random, but I thought it was worth sharing! I've been using this tea kettle probably 4 or 5 days a week for a full three months now, and it's great. In an effort to save money (and calories) I switched over to mostly tea a few months back-- specifically Bigelow Green Tea with Lemon and a little bit of honey. I pour water up to the minimum line and turn the kettle on, and within less than a minute it's piping hot, just the way I like it! This saves me time in the morning because I would inevitably forget to put water on the stove in time for tea.
5. Rifle Paper Company Weekly Desk Pad
It wouldn't be a Friday Favorites without something from Rifle Paper Co., now would it? :) I've used this calendar on my desk for a few years now. I think I've gone through three or four of them, and I always switch up the design. It sits right in front of my keyboard and it's what I use to track meetings, events, and small "to-dos." I like that it gives me my full week view, that I can fill the dates out myself so it doesn't matter when I start using it, and I can flip forward to look at the weeks ahead. I use different color paper mates pens to distinguish between meetings/tasks-- this is a picture from this past week which was a bit lighter than usual. When my week is full, at least it's full of color!
That's all for this week-- have a wonderful weekend! P.S...stay tuned for details from Kelly's shower and what I wore!
