1. kate spade Dip Dye Denim Dress
This Friday, now that warmer weather has finally (maybe?) arrived, I wanted to share two dresses that I'm loving. One is new, one is older, but both are still available! The first is this denim dress from kate spade that I love for so meany reasons. The first? It's 40% off during a "surprise sale." Second, I love that it can be dressed up with heels, but it could also be a great casual dress with a wedge or even a flat sandal. The "dip dye" effect is even cuter in person, and the denim construction sets this dress apart. I can't wait to wear it this summer!
2. Spaghetti Strap Wedding Guest Dress
With wedding season about to begin, I thought it was the perfect time to share this super easy, super affordable, and super sweet dress from none other than Amazon. This dress is $29.99 and comes in TWENTY-EIGHT different colors. Let that sink in. You could buy this dress in every color of the rainbow and then some. Fourth of July outing? Choose red, white, or blue! Bridal Shower? Any of the three pinks or two purples are great options. Personally, I went with navy (which for some reason is on its own page here). I know buying clothes on Amazon can be hit or miss, so I thought it was worth reporting back that this dress feels and looks high-quality. It has a hidden zipper up the back, and adjustable straps that criss cross on the shoulders. And, it has pockets. Need I say more? (P.S. Please excuse the smudges on the mirror...the cleaning lady hadn't come yet. And by cleaning lady I mean me.)
3. Klorane Natural Tint Dry Shampoo
Speaking of Amazon, that's where I buy my dry shampoo ever since Sephora stopped carrying it. This is the first dry shampoo that I've found that doesn't show up in my hair as a white powder thanks to its natural tint. Prior to Klorane, I was using Drybar's Detox Dry Shampoo for Brunettes. It blended into my hair perfectly, but the problem is it would show up on my forehead, too, looking almost like dirt. That's when I gave this stuff a try and haven't strayed since! I spray some in the roots of my second-day hair in the morning and I'm good to go. My mom recently read an article that said you're actually supposed to spray it in your hair before going to sleep so that the shampoo can fully absorb your hair's oil over night. I haven't given this a try yet, but if anyone can endorse this strategy please let me know!
4. The Lemon Cookbook by Ellen Jackson
The Lemon Cookbook: 50 Sweet & Savory Recipes to Brighten Every Meal! My sister gave this to me as a gift a year or two ago because of my love of lemons. Admittedly, it took me a while to finally crack it open and try a few recipes out, but now I'm hooked! I've been enjoying cooking a lot more now that we moved into a new place this winter with much more kitchen counter space. That's really the key, I've found, to my liking to cook-- having a place to lay out all of my ingredients and space to prep! Anyways, this cookbook is a great tool, especially for lighter recipes this summer. It has breakfasts, salads, sides, entrees, sweets (!!!!), drinks, and some staple recipes like lemon curd and preserved lemons. Some favorite dishes that we've tried so far are the Toasted Bread and Chicken Salad with Roasted Lemon-Shallot Vinaigrette (my first time making a homemade vinaigrette, and it was to die for) and Asparagus & Lemon Pesto Pasta with Smoked Mozzarella. Both were fairly easy, and didn't require a super long list of ingredients. Next on the list to try? Lemon & Poppy Seed Parfaits with Strawberries! Or maybe the Toasted Coconut-Lemon Tart... yum!
5. Nestlie's Northeastern National Pet Week Win
So, last week I had my radio debut. This week Nestlie had her own claim to fame: her collegiate-wear modeling debut! I saw on Facebook that our alma mater, Northeastern University in Boston, was running a contest in honor of National Pet Week. They were looking for alumni to share photos of their pets in NU gear, and they chose three winners from the bunch. Nestlie, bless her tiny chocolate heart, was one of the winners! We were surprised with the most adorable bandana in the mail that she can't wait to rock at the next NU event or regatta we attend! Check out the other two winners from Northeastern's post below. Also note that for our submission, Nestlie was wearing a bandana that I made for her in college out of felt. Her new one is a nice upgrade!
That's all for this week! If you need me this weekend, I'll be shopping the Vineyard Vines x Target collection... :)
