Big news in the retail world: the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is about to begin! This is the first year that they have published an online preview, which is suuuuper helpful. If you're not familiar with the sale, it happens annually every summer; what makes it unique is that the sale is comprised of new releases for the upcoming fall season, rather than a sale on past products. It's a great time to give your fall wardrobe a refresh with some basics, or to splurge on a new coat, bag, or pair of shoes that will be discounted for a limited time. Nordstrom cardmembers can shop the sale starting August 13 (or earlier depending on your cardmember status) and then the public can shop it starting August 19.
I thought it might be fun, and helpful, for me to share some products I have purchased and loved from past anniversary sales that are available again this year in either identical or slightly updated versions. With the preview being available online, this gives you plenty of time to plan and get ready for what you might want to buy! Over the past few years, I have primarily bought clothes and shoes. But, it's worth noting that the sale also includes a great selection of beauty products, home-goods, as well as men's and kid's clothing and of course, bags... more on that later. But for now, let's dive right in!
Cozy in Cashmere
Three great things in this photo: my sweater, jeans, and booties. My boots are from the brand Blondo and I think they're one of my most-worn purchases from Nordstrom. I wear them with jeans, leggings, skirts and dresses (so everything) and I LOVE that they're waterproof. I bought them last year, wore them all fall and winter, and they're still in incredible condition (particularly the heel). This year, Blondo has a few offerings that are definitely worth checking out. I've linked above to two pairs that are most similar to mine!
By the way— if you're in the market for new booties this fall in general, look no further than this sale. There are tons of great options from all sorts of brands. Might as well buy them at a discount!
Waiting on a (Rainy) Day
Another brand I'm always excited to look for is Barbour. This sale is a great opportunity for a discount on a brand that is notorious for their quality. Barbour's raincoats this year are a little different from the version I bought last year, but they're equally as stylish! I also wanted to point out my quilted Hunter rainboots that are back! I'm typically a size 6 1/2 so I bought the 7 since there are no half sizes. If you're familiar with the Hunter brand, you know that these are both high-quality and cute. What makes this pair even better is that they're lined on the inside, so they're a tad warmer than standard rainboots. Plus, they come in both a short and medium-height option!
Suede Skirt Two Ways
Other favorite past purchases of mine: my suede BLANKNYC skirt and my Lucky wedge booties. The shoes are from two years ago and I haven't see them come up this year, but a couple other brands have similar pairs, like these from Söfft. The skirt is from last year and it's a great day-to-night option! This year's version is a little different (no zippered pockets) but it comes in two beautiful, neutral colors. My shirt is Topshop from last year, but how cute is this smocked waist blouse? It would pair perfectly with the skirt.
Need something a little warmer? Add a vest and riding boots! The Patagoina Los Gatos fleece vest is a great deal, and so cozy. My boots are past season Tory Burch, but there are some nice options in the sale as far as brown riding boots go! I'm eyeing these Sam Edelman ones, myself.
The Best Bag & Vest
I wanted to show my vest another way, because it really is so versatile. I have it over a striped shirt from Halogen (here's this year's version). I even wear this vest to work with my black ankle-length pants, a basic bodysuit top, and flats. My shoes are Tom's but I've linked to some similar pairs. Another piece I love in this photo is my black Tory Burch bag! It was my go-to bag almost every day this year... fall, winter, and even summer (see below). There's a very similar one in the sale this year for a STEAL!
Speaking of bags, I wanted to note that in my opinion the handbags can often be some of the best deals in the sale. While I don't have any on my wish list this year— if you saw my Closet Tour you know I'm at capacity 0:) — I wanted to share a few that caught my eye from some of my favorite designers. Almost all of these bags come in at least one other color, too. The Anniversary Sale price is in yellow, and the full price following the sale is beneath!
Last but not least, a little workout wear! If you've shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary sale before, you know that Zella is THE brand for workout gear. Their leggings are a great alternative to Lululemon without sacrificing quality. Plus, they come in different thicknesses and lengths. I bought this capri pair last year and I also have ankle length for lounging, as well as a pair of pants I love to wear on walks. Check out my Adidas top and Zella jacket, too!
That's all I have for now. Nordstrom has been adding a few items here and there since the preview went live, but I'm not sure if they'll continue to do so once the sale begins this week.
I'll keep an eye out if there's anything else I spot that I've bought in the past (so be sure to follow me on Instagram or liketoknow.it), and you know I'll be sharing what I buy this year! Happy shopping. :)
