This is going to be a weird week! I had Monday off for Memorial Day, Thursday I have Jury Duty (unless I hear otherwise), and at the end of the week my half-day Friday summer schedule starts. But, even with the short week ahead of me, I still didn't manage to get any photos for this week's post ahead of time like I normally would. So instead, after work last night I recreated the outfit I wore on Monday to brunch with Les's family and tried to stage a kind of "getting ready" photoshoot. Unfortunately, the lighting on this dark rainy night wasn't doing me any favors... so please forgive these photos while I recap the weekend!
Les's parents arrived Friday night and we headed over to our local golf & tennis club for a bite to eat at their grill. It was our first time trying it, and we're so glad that we have a new spot so close by. In fact, we went back again before the weekend was over! But we'll get to that.
Saturday morning we woke up, had a light breakfast, and headed North to Newburyport to walk around, see the sights, and explore the shops. We checked out Oldies Marketplace (a big old barn full of antiques and second-hand treasures) and walked up and down the main streets of town popping in and out of stores along the way.
When it was time for lunch, we headed to Woodman's in Essex, rumored to be the best seafood on the North Shore. (Psst.. the rumors are true). And, fun fact: it's where Les and I will have our rehearsal dinner/welcome party before our wedding! For dinner Saturday night, we tried a new spot back on our own main street and ended the night with a game of euchre!
The next morning, I made a big breakfast of sweet potato hash and we sent Les and his dad on their way to spend the afternoon golfing. Meanwhile, I took his mom to a nearby beach for the PERFECT beach day. The weather was not too hot that we needed to get in the water (thankfully, because it was freezing), but warm enough to finally be in a suit and soak up some sun. When the guys were done golfing, we met up with them back at the club for sandwiches and some beer on the front deck. Even Nestlie joined us. :) Dinner that night was at home, followed by a movie!
And, to wrap up a really great weekend, we walked to brunch the next morning and were joined by Les's sister and her husband. Insert the above outfit! Comfy shorts, a simple white shirt, my forever-favorite jean jacket from over ten years ago, and sandals that go with just about anything. Happy Wednesday, wish me luck with Jury Duty, and come back Friday for Friday Favorites!
