What I'm Wearing Weekly #14

Dress/Romper: Lilly Pulitzer (sold out, same style here, similar style here, and different style/ same pattern is here). | Bag: Tory Burch (sold out, similar here). | Shoes: Tory Burch | Sunglasses: Izipizi

This past weekend, Les and I were in New York City with his parents to celebrate his 26th birthday! On the list of things to do was go to the Yankees vs. Astros game on Sunday. When I tell you I wore this Lilly Pulitzer number to the game, you might think I'm a little crazy. Don't most people wear shorts and a t-shirt, you're probably asking yourself? Yes. But I'm here to defend myself for THREE reasons.

Number one, after the game we were heading straight to Queens for a get-together with some friends and I knew I wanted to look a little nicer for that. Number two, this dress is actually a skort/romper! To me, that made it a little more sporty for the occasion. Also, it was 80 degrees and this outfit kept me cool.

And number three, just two days before was National Wear Your Lilly Day. In conclusion, that all added up to this outfit here.

Sunday turned out to be my favorite day of our trip, but let me start the recap from the beginning! We arrived in the city Saturday afternoon, dropped our bags at the hotel, and then headed to the MET. That night, we had dinner at an Italian restaurant called Allora in Midtown. If you're ever in the area, GO. The food was absolutely incredible, but more than that the staff felt like family. And, as such, we were treated to incredibly generous pourings of wine, after-dinner moonshine, and complimentary Port. So, what do you do when you're a little (Les) an a lot (me) buzzed in NYC? You go to FAO Schwarz, of course! I touched every soft animal in the joint, and Les played on the giant floor piano. What a night.

The next morning we headed to Yankee Stadium, where it also happened to be Old-Timers' Day before the game. We watched some seasoned players take the field, and then unfortunately watch the Astros beat the Yankees.

From there, we headed to Forest Hills where Les's friend from high school (and groomsman!) Slawek just bought a house with his wife, Paulina. His in-laws live in the same neighborhood and they were generous enough to host us all along with some of their family for a Double Birthday BBQ-- Les and Slawek share the same birthday! So fun. After some delicious food and drink, Slawek and Paulina had a little surprise up their sleeves. Paulina is on the board of the West Side Tennis Club in their neighborhood, where the U.S Open was played until the 1970s. That night, Young the Giant and The Head and the Heart were playing a concert in the stadium! So after dinner the "kids" all walked over to West Side and caught some of the show.

Not the most flattering picture of Les, I know. :) But you can tell how much fun we were having, especially with Slawek's brother Dyzio (pictured here on the right)! It was so fun to see Slawek, Paulina, and their families again. They had the most incredible wedding two years ago, and we can't wait to have them at ours next year. Overall, it was a great trip! We're back home this week and then headed to Maine this weekend for my birthday! See you Friday for Friday Favorites.
