What I'm Wearing Weekly #17

Sunglasses: Izipizi | Dress: Old Navy | Shoes: Steve Madden from Nordstrom | Earrings: J. Crew Factory

Happy Hump Day, friends! Can I be honest? I actually hate that term. Can we change it to something like "Happy hurdle day," having made it through the hurdle of the beginning half of the week instead of hump? Who's with me?!

In any case, Les and I just got back from the Adirondacks last night and are pleased that our work week is half over already! We spent Saturday through Tuesday on Fourth Lake near Old Forge, NY with Les's parents and his sister Emily. We had almost perfect weather everyday, and enjoyed time out on the water touring the lake on a pontoon boat. And, we made our annual pilgrimage across the street from the house his parents rent to Red Dog Tavern-- a pretty classic bar and grill. And here's what I wore for the occasion! P.S. Anyone familiar with the Red Dog would probably get a laugh out of me calling it an "occasion," but I'm a firm believer that you can never be over-dressed!

I picked this chambray shirt dress up from Old Navy a few weeks ago. I have a darker, long sleeve version also from Old Navy that I love to pair with tights and boots in the fall and winter, so I knew I would love this version for summer! It's easy and goes with anything-- like my new Steve Madden espadrilles!

I've been on the hunt for a platform espadrille all summer. I wanted them to be neutral in color and comfortable, and nothing I was finding really fit the bill. Finally, I came across this Steve Madden pair at Nordstrom, and they are everything I was looking for! I was admittedly skeptical after reading the reviews, but decided to take a chance because Nordstrom has free returns (and let's be honest-- with the Anniversary Sale going on I knew I'd be in and out anyways over the next week or so). So I placed my order, picked it up in store, and walked out pretty happy!

The main criticism throughout the negative reviews is about the weight of these shoes. I will say that when you first put them on, it feels like you're walking with wooden blocks attached to your feet. But, I found that after walking around in them for only a few minutes you adjust really quickly. I'm thinking maybe some of the reviewers didn't give them enough of a chance? After walking to and from dinner in these, I can honestly say they're actually really comfortable and they provide a decent amount of support. They also run true to size, and I'm wearing my usual 6.5. Finally found my espadrille!

Today, we're back to reality at work after a fun few days. I'll do a full recap of our trip on Monday, but between now and then be sure to come back on Friday for my favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale part 2! If you missed part 1, catch it here before these finds sell out!!
