What I'm Wearing Weekly #2

What do you wear on a cloudy spring day that started in the high 30s and rose to the high 50s? Layers! And maybe you revisit to a much-loved fall outfit, too. This was last Friday's outfit at work-- Friday tends to be a more casual day around my office, and I was also dressing to hit the road later that night for Maine!

Sunglasses: Warby Parker | Necklace: J. Crew Factory (sold out, similar here). | Sweater: Old Navy (sold out, similar here). | Shirt: Target (sold out, similar here and here). | Jeans: J. Crew | Shoes: Nordstrom (sold out, similar here and here). | Backpack: Henri Bendel Mini Jetsetter Convertible Backpack.

Two things about this outfit. First: the shoes. I bought these last summer during the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary sale and I wore them all fall. I receive tons of compliments on them whenever I wear them, and I think they can be that little something extra to pull an outfit together or dress it up a bit. The exact ones I have (they're from the brand Halogen) are sold out, but tons of other brands have made similar mules, and I suspect these might be back in this year's Anniversary Sale because of how popular they were last year.

Second: The bag. I love a good backpack (see last week's What I Wore Weekly). This particular one came as a result of my over-reaction to finding out late last year that Henri Bendel was closing down shop. How would I ever become Blair Waldorf without a Bendel's bag?! (Just kidding... mostly). They were having pretty amazing close-out deals online, but by the time I found out they were going out of business, options were limited. Side note: Les told me he had heard about their closing weeks earlier in his capacity as a financial research analyst, but didn't think to tell me. Things we'll have to work on in our marriage... always share information sourced from the WSJ that is pertinent to fashion.

The result? I went on the hunt for a Bendel's bag on sites like Poshmark, Tradesy, and Mercari, and I will say this was one of the more available bags, meaning I saw it in various places in both the mini and large versions. I ended up finding mine on Tradesy. While I did feel the slightest bit silly for having such a visceral reaction to Henri Bendel going out of business, I use this bag all. the. time. It's definitely more of a fall/winter bag, and I have used it both for work and on the weekend. As an added bonus (I feel like I use that phrase all the time in my posts.. maybe I should have called this blog "An Added Bonus...") it can transform into a cross-body bag, too.

As it turns out, I'm glad I jumped on this buy when I did because as I looked around to link to this bag on some of the sites I was shopping on, I noticed that they're now either all gone, or are going for more than double what I paid for mine (!!!). I definitely got mine at a steal considering it still had the tags on it and was in its original packaging. Here's one of the only ones I could still find.

Is it ridiculous that I knew I needed a Bendel's bag as soon as I thought I couldn't have one? Yes. Do I have any regrets? See my face below. :)
