The other day, Les and I decided to go out for a drive. He was in shorts and a tee shirt, and I threw on what I considered to be this "easy" dress. He immediately called me out and asked who I was trying to impress?! I had to explain to him that, truthfully, a dress is the easiest outfit to put together no matter where you're going; easier than shorts and a tee that have to be coordinated. I'd wear a dress over shorts any day!
Plus, dresses are just so much more comfortable and breezy, especially when they're a lightweight linen fabric like this one from Boden. If you're unfamiliar with the brand, Boden is a British company that I LOVE for all of their bright prints and patterns. Their stuff is a bit pricey so I tend to only shop in the sale section online, but two of my favorite coats are from Boden. I also have a pair of loafers that have held up for years! It's worth mentioning that this dress also comes in chambray with beautiful multi-colored floral embroidery.
I paired it with my go-to Tory Burch miller sandals, and my pom pom bride bag that was part of my giveaway on Instagram a few weeks ago! It was actually the first time I used it since I bought it last October, and I'm so glad that I have a bonus summer next year to tote it around. Although, let's be real, I'll probably keep using it long after I'm a bride! Ignore the lining of the bag that's popping out of the top, which I wish my photographer (ahem, Les) had caught. The top of the bag can actually be cinched closed with the interior fabric which is kind of awesome, and my bag was pretty stuffed with my wallet, mask, and other essentials!
Normally when I'm working in my office, I would be wearing a dress almost every day of the summer. Throw one on with sandals and boom, you're ensamble-d (not a word, but let's make it one, shall we?). Because I have so many (as opposed to shorts, skirts, or tops), I'm still primarily wearing dresses or rompers, even while I'm at home. So no, Les, I'm not trying to impress anyone besides you and the pup. I'm just dressing easy and breezy!
