There are few things that make me more excited than fall fashion. But at the same time, there are few things that frustrate me more than transitional weather! What does one wear?! Last week the highs here on the North Shore of Massachusetts were in the low 60s, and this week they'll be back in the 70s.
Nonetheless, the second I saw that there was even the slightest chill forecasted this past weekend I whipped out my new suede boots from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! Can you think of anything that captures the essence of fall more than a tall brown boot? I guess maybe apple cider... or a pumpkin spice latte... or an apple cider donut... or pumpkin picking. But tall brown boots are definitely up there, too. I love the block heels on these, both for the trend and the stability! I'm normally a 6 1/2 in most shoes, but I always size up to a 7 in any boot just to make sure I can fit a warmer sock.
Ok let's talk about corduroy!! Corduroy will forever remind me of the beloved children's book, but more specifically of a shoebox diorama my sister made in elementary school for her book report on it. She probably doesn't even remember it.....Kelly? Any thoughts? Anyways, this new corduroy skirt is perfect for fall, and I actually snagged it in the olive green color that it comes in, too! It's a nice length on my 5' 4" frame, and fits true to size!
The other piece I wanted to point out is my white quarter-sleeve top! I always find myself in search of the perfect white shirt, especially to pair tucked in with a skirt or jeans, and especially because white shirts never seem to last the more you wear them. I ordered this one at the same time as my skirt and it's exactly what I hoped it would be. It's a nice linen fabric, the perfect v-neck that isn't too low, and it also fits true to size! P.S. I also threw my Patagonia Los Gatos vest on later that day for some added warmth.
I didn't really realize this until now, but this also tends to be the season that I use a backpack more than anything else for my daily purse, and there really isn't any logic to it. The only thing I can think of is maybe subconsciously I'm in back-to-school mode?! How funny is that? This brown faux leather bag was a Marshall's find a few years ago, but I found a similar one at Target!
I hope wherever you are you're getting the chance to pull out the first of your fall accessories, too, and that you're able to muddle through this transitional weather with the best of us!
