Easter is one of those holidays-- like St. Patrick's Day-- where I have pictures over the years in either a bright, sunny-weather outfit or something befitting for a rainy day. This year, unfortunately, swung toward the latter. Thankfully, I had been in Target a week or two ago for something... dish towels? to make a return? Who even knows. The bottom line is it's nearly impossible to walk into Target with one purpose, and to walk out having only fulfilled that purpose. If you can do this successfully, I'd love some pointers.
I had an entirely different outfit in mind for Easter, but knowing that rain and slightly colder weather were likely, I knew that I would probably have to figure something else out. And on that day in Target, this skirt caught my eye. I thought the bright (I say yellow, Les says orange) flowers were perfect for Easter and would keep me warmer than anything short.
I paired this high-waisted paper-bag skirt with a black, three-quarter sleeve bodysuit, Tory Burch block heels, and a little black kate spade bag and called it a day. I love the neutral look of these sandals-- they'll go with everything this spring and summer, and they're the perfect height!
Despite the weather-- which actually turned around a little bit later on in the day-- we spent a lovely afternoon at my aunt's on the South Shore with my sister and her fiancé, my parents, cousins, and grandparents. Ever since I was born, we've spent Thanksgiving at my aunt's and all of the cousins have sat at the round kid's table off of the kitchen. This year at Easter, though, the kids outnumbered the adults (thank you significant others!) and we had the privilege of eating in the dining room. We say our own grace, set our own pace, and are cleared from the table before the adults have had their second helpings.
While we were at my aunt's and I was showing my skirt to my mom (and doing the classic "it has pockets!!!" dance that we girls do) I realized that I didn't show off the pockets in the pictures my sister snapped for me before we left my apartment. Begrudgingly, Les agreed to pose for a pocket-picture (above)... and then this happened:
I think he likes me. :) I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!! Can't wait to share the appetizer I brought to Easter in Friday Favorites this week... it was easy, and it was a hit!
